FFX Walkthrough

Highroad

HighroadBefore you get started touch the Save Sphere and avoid the catastrophe known as a power failure. Notice that you can now play blitzball games almost anywhere and that you can scout for blitzball player by pressing while talking to someone, which means you can start to assemble a good blitzball team and start playing in tournaments and such.

Time to trek basically all the way across this field, fighting enemies as you go, but make sure you stop and visit:

1)

The statue of Lord Mi’ihen, it’s not far from the entrance to the Highroad. You can learn about the history of the crusaders.

2)

Belgemine the summoner. She will test you and teach you about using your summons better.

3)

Sir Luzzu and Sir Gatta who will talk to you about their mission and status.

Sunset on the highroad
When you're Yuna you can express pain, fear, love, anguish, greif and happiness with a single facial expression

Once you get to the end of the road the team will take a pit stop at the hotel and spend the night. Walk outside the hotel and Tidus and Yuna will have a talk down near the shore.

After arriving back at the hotel go back out the exit to continue the journey. You will now have to fight the beast that was terrorizing the Chocobos, a.k.a. the Chocobo Eater. Once you defeat it (which is really hard to do) or get defeated by it you will be able to rent Chocobos to continue your journey. The entire team will also get a ton of AP if they win. Throw everything you can at beating it before it pushes you off the ledge, but don't fret if you can't do it. I couldn't do it my first time through the game and it still took a try or two to do it succesfully my next time through.

If you managed to win take your fancy new Chocobo from the woman standing outside the hotel and continue down the trail. Go all the way down to the gateway to find a save point, but instead of hoping off you should continue down the southeast path to the "Oldroad North" (the direction shown in the photo) below.

Chocobos, next to useless in FFXAlong this trail (the Oldroad) you should look for a Chocobo feather on the ground. Press X when you're near it and the Chocobo will fly up to a ledge that has an item on , jump off and you’ll land on yet another ledge. Farther on down the trail past captain Lucil and all the Chocobo’s messing around on the hill is another Chocobo feather off to the right side (east side). Go further down the trail to meet up with O’aka and feel free to browse his wares if you are in need of anything. Keep going farther down the trail to get the last treasure chest that contains the Mars Crest.

Now go back up to the gate and attempt to get into the Mushroom Rock Road. The Chocobo caravan will proceed through the gate unhindered but if you try and follow it the guard will tell you that you may not pass. When you try to leave the entrance Maester Seymour will come up from behind you and negotiate your passage for you, thanks to Yuna.

Once inside Maester Seymour will give a small speech to the Al Bhed and the Crusaders to rally them before the battle and will then explain to Tidus why he supports their actions even though they contradict the teachings of Yevon.

Mushroom Rock

Mushroom Rock roadWalk forward and you’ll get a few explanations on what’s happening in the battle. Take a left when you get to the fork in the road and walk up to the elevator. Make your way across the platforms until you get to the command center. Press X on the elevator to make it go up.

Get up to the plateau to see all the machina that the Al Bhed and Crusaders will be using to try and defeat Sin. Make your way across the plateau towards the ridge and eventually to the middle of the command center.

Once you get there you’ll meet up with Wen Kinoc, another Maester. After you're done conversing with him make sure that your equipment is all ready as you will be doing some fighting (boss fights, so don't take this warning lightly). If the team is ready go talk to the guard to continue.

Sinspawn GuiSinspawn Gui: This battle can be a little challenging. The arms will stop you from attacking Gui’s main body so you’ll have to take them out before anyone can attack. Take out the head while the arms are gone. Use Tidus’ haste to speed up the party as the arms will return in three turns. If the head starts "moving suspiciously" you’re going to get Venom attacked, which is a pretty vicious attack, but can be negated if you're prepared for it. Once the head is dead it will be much easier to take out the rest of the body. Kill it and you’ll fight it again, but this time with Maester Seymour.

Sinspawn GuiSinspawn Gui: Use the same tactics as the last battle only this time you gain the awesome power of having Maester Seymour at your disposal. His magic is top notch compared to yours now and he has 999 MP to boot. Same tactics, same battle. A cake walk with Seymour.

The aftermath of the battle finds the team down on the ruined beach. Just talk to Gatta to continue with the story.

After a short interlude you’ll be back on the beach again, still at the aftermath of the battle. Yuna and Maester Seymour will have a small chat and you’ll be on your way. Talk to Auron to continue the story and then head up to where the rest of the team is. Your journey will now take you down the Djose Highroad.
