Final Fantasy VII

Whirlwind Maze

Continue down the side of the crater. At this point in the story you are going to have to use Tifa in your party (if you haven’t been already). Remove the Materia off the team member she will be replacing. Continue forward into the maze and begin working your way through. When you reach the Save Point there will be a red piece of Materia sitting on the pathway (Neo Bahamut). Don’t forget to pick it up as you pass.

After the short scene with Rufus, Scarlet and Heidegger, you will find yourself staring at a huge wall of wind. Pay attention to the color changes on the wall. You’ll need to cross over the pathway while the color is almost clear. The difficult part about this task is making sure your team is close enough to the barrier to sprint over while its calm. If the barrier hits you you’ll be thrown into a standard enemy fight. If it takes you too many tries the game will take mercy on you and remove the wall of wind. The two cloaked people will give you a Hi-Potion and Ether when you talk to them.

Follow the pathway the other cloaked people are following.  Pick up the Kaiser Knuckle from the chest as you pass. Talking to the fallen cloaked people on this pathway will yield nothing.

One more wind barrier to pass through. This time you’ll have some bursts to dodge as well, making it slightly more difficult. Take a look on the pathway where the bursts pass over to see the exact point you need to cross, and get as close to it as you can. Continue up the pathway to meet Sephiroth…

Wind barriers are a pain in the ass.

Jenova Death

Equipping some fire gear on your characters will make this battle a synch. Fire Ring on one person and Fire Armlet on another. Red Lights really hurt if you don’t have these items equipped. Keep constant heals coming, as the Red Lights usually come in batches of three.

HP: 25,000
Reward: Reflect Ring

After the fight you’ll pick up the Black Materia. Tifa will suggest you give it to someone else incase you decide to hand it over to Sephiroth again.  Hand it to any of the team members who will accept it. It doesn’t matter who. After you have, talk to Tifa to get the story rolling again. Once you can move along the trail again, grab the yellow MP Turbo Materia lying on the ground.

Save at the save point up ahead and grab the Poison Ring (Useless considering you have two Ribbons already) sitting in the chest. One last barrier to cross over. Even harder than the last one though; faster bursts and lightning.

Once you make it to the end of this pathway you are in for lengthy scene. Enjoy!

Sephiroth stuck in some sort of crystalis. Cloud handing over the Black Materia
