Nibelheim
|
When you first show up at Nibelheim the team will be shocked to find that the town looks as it used to, nothing has burned down, as Cloud had explained earlier. Go into the first house at the top of the screen, in the back room behind the counter you will find someone in a cloak. Talk to them to get a Luck Source. The next house over will have another cloaked individual who has an Elixir for you. Go to Tifa’s house (middle house on the right side) and talked to the cloaked individual in the kitchen. Then go upstairs and talk to the last cloaked person to get a Platinum Fist. A Luck Source is the last item you can get and its in the house just south of Tifa’s.
Make your way up to the Shinra mansion.
At this point in the game it becomes possible to add another character to your roster: Vincent. It’s a very difficult fight, but it can be done at this stage in the game. Click here to find out how.
Go into the doorway to the left of the staircase and take a right. The chest in this room has a Twin Viper in it, a new weapon for Yuffie. The room to the right of the staircase (at the entrance) also has a chest in it containing a new weapon for Cait Sith, the Silver M-Phone.
Go up the stairs and take a left. The room on the left has a chest with Enemy Launcher in it, a new weapon for Barrett.
Go up the stairs and enter the room on the right. Inside the room to the north is a Magic Source.

Make your way to the library where you discovered Sephiroth last time by taking the hidden passageway in the bookshelf. When you arrive you’ll get to watch another short scene where you meet up with Sephiroth once more. Pick up the Destruct Materia Sephiroth hurls at your face and make your way back out of Nibelheim, northward, towards the reactor Tifa guided you to back in the day.
Walk towards the cave at the back to begin your ascent up Mount Nibel.
Mount Nibel
Long, boring, arduous. What’re you waiting for? Follow the path around until it splits heading north, and head up there to grab a new sword for Cloud: Rune Blade. Continue following the path all the way around until you get to the bridge. There’s a path heading north from here. If you follow it all the way around you’ll find a Plus Barrette at the end, a new weapon for Red XIII. The path can be a little complicated to find, so if you don’t plan on using Red XIII then don’t waste your time.
While you’re wandering through these caves you may come across a large green dragon in battle. Make sure that you steal from it if you do. Gold Armlet’s can be stolen from them, and they’re far better armor than anything you’ve been able to get so far.

When you get to this part of the mountain you’ll notice a bunch of pipes at the top. Don’t go down any of them yet. Start by walking down the stairs and down the ladder. The ladder at the bottom of the screen needs to be stretched to the bottom so you can use it to get back up. Now you get multiple attempts at the tubes, although with this guide it shouldn’t take too many. Before you do that though, go through the door on the left.
Follow the path away from the reactor to the cave at the bottom of the mountain. Inside the cave, at the top left portion, is a chest with a Sniper CR in it for Vincent. Exit the cave at the bottom left side (not the part you came in at). You’ll be in the Materia fountain room you saw before in the flashback. An Elemental Materia is sitting off to the left side. Work your way back to the reactor and then back to the room with the 5 pipes.
All of the pipes have numbers on them, but they’ve been enlarged on the picture to make sure you can see them. Hop down pipe [4] and grab the All Materia in the chest. Jump across and climb back up and this time drop down pipe [2]. Grab the Powersoul (A weapon for Tifa) sitting on the rock.
It’s time to fight the big tarantula looking thing in the bottom right of the screen. Make sure you save before you do though.

This boss drops one of the best Materia in the game when it dies, Counter Attack Materia. Equip it on the character that has Cover Materia for a deadly combination.
Continue along the pathway the Materia Keeper was blocking, outside the cave and around the corner.
Make your way towards Rocket Town from here.
