Ancient Forest
After having defeated Ultimate Weapon (click the link for more info on that) you can walk your way up to the Ancient Forest. You can also get up here by breeding a green, blue or black Chocobo, but defeating Ultimate Weapon is much easier.
Start by pressing select to mark up the entrances, exits, and your location. Some of these areas get a little confusing with layouts. You can press Square anywhere in the Ancient Forest to return to the entrance of the room, since it’s possible to get yourself tangled into an inescapable mess!
Walk over to the right until you reach a big red flower. There’s a Supershot ST sitting in the middle. Get as close to the edge as possible and you can grab it without being eaten. Start grabbing the small insects and drop them off close to the blue hanging flowers. Then grab one, head up the ramp, and toss it in the flower, which will cause it to close. Grab the next, jump on the closed flower, and then toss it in the next open flower, creating a pathway for you to cross. Use the vine on the right to jump to the next ledge and grab the Spring Gun Clip at the top of the screen.
Grab the fly bouncing right in front of you on the next screen. Walk up to the vine and use it to jump up. Drop the fly in the hanging flower and jump across to the other vine. On the other side of the flower you will find a frog, and two hanging flowers. Throw your frog into the flower in the left. Stand on the flower until the frog jumps out and it will launch you forward to the upper platform. Grab… whatever that is up there, and throw it in the flower on the left (stand beside it and release it). Grab the Slash-All Materia sitting next to the flower. Grab the frog again and toss it into the hanging flower on the right. The flower will launch you onto the ground opposite the log. Continue to the next screen.
Grab the two flies and toss them into the hanging flower to reach the vine. The vine will launch you up into the treetops. Start by following the trunk of the area down to grab the item you could see on the last screen (Minerva Band). You will have to use the frog again to get back to the treetops.
Follow the trunk of the tree on the left up to the top, and then follow the branch over to the right. Down this trunk you will find another pathway leading back up.
Climb up it and use the vines to jump across to the other side of the treetops. Typhoon Materia is lying on the trunk of this tree. Use the vines to get back to the other side and then travel down the trunk of this tree.
Grab an insect and toss it into the hanging flower on the right side of the screen. Hop up to the upper ledge and grab the ball thingy and toss it into the flower. Grab the other insect and toss it into the hanging flower on the left and jump across. Grab the next fly, toss it in the tree to turn it into a frog. Take the frog and throw it in the hanging flower on the right. Walk in the cave at the end to find Apocalypse sitting in the chest. There’s also an Elixir on the way out.
