As I stated in the previous walkthrough section, this dungeon heavily relies on your use of the Lens of Truth. My friends and Ihad a hard time finding the Lens of Truth our first times through the game, and two of my friends had actually worked their way through about half of the temple without it, and it is almost all possible to do without it. You have to remember that the Lens of Truth reveals things that are already there, so it is possible to do this dungeon without it.
You have it though, so I’m going to explain accordingly. From the entrance, start by using your Longshot to jump the gap and then walk through the face in the middle of the path.
Use the Lens of Truth on all the faces in this room. One of them has a hallway behind it, go through it now and walk through the door at the end.
Go through the wall with the skeleton on it. Notice his eyes are lit up. Then go towards the right and look for another skeleton that has eyes that are lit up. Walk through that passageway and go through the door. You’ll be locked into this room. Kill all the enemies in there and your reward will be the Dungeon Map. Then go back out and find another skeleton whose eyes are lit up. Go through it and you’ll find yourself in another square room, which has another corridor on the back right side. Enter and you’ll get to fight another Dead Hand. You know what to do, as you’ve completed the Bottom of the Well. Your reward is a nice one, Hover Boots!
Now go back to the main room with all the faces. You’ll notice a bunch of skulls on sticks. Use your Lens of Truth to find the one true one, and then push the bird statue so it faces that skull. The entrance that opens up is quite far away, so use your Hover Boots and run across quickly. You should just make it to the tip of the tongue.
Go down the corridor and into the room with the Beamos. Then use your Lens of Truth and you’ll see a path that goes off to the right, and one that goes off to the left. Take the one to the right.
Inside this room, you must kill the two enemies to continue. The chest that appears contains the Compass for this dungeon. Exit this room and take the path that went off to the left.
Find all the silver rupees in this room to continue. There is one corridor that has a face at the end, and if you walk through it, you will fall a couple of stories. This is actually a shortcut that you can use later, it has to be opened by taking the long way first. There is one rupee in this room that’s elevated on a platform you can’t get up onto. Use the Lens of Truth to scope out a Longshot target that you can Longshot too. Then grab the rupee and proceed through the newly opened door. By the way, you can roll under the sickle if you get into trouble.
Go back out to the room with the Beamos in it, and bomb the east sidewall, it will reveal a locked door. Through this passage you will run into four spiders, and Navi will tell you that there are creatures on the roof almost at the end of the corridor. I suggest you let it fall and then kill it. You’ll then enter a huge room. Continue all the way to the platform at the back wall. Here you will have to fight a Stalfos again.
After you kill it, look of to the east. You will see a platform way off in the distance. Use your Lens of Truth to reveal a platform halfway between, and then use your Hover Boots to leap across from platform to platform. Go through the door at the end.
After you kill all of the enemies in this room, including the three bats on the rood, a new door will open on the other side of the room. Go through it. In this room you’ll find a blue rupee, and a Gold Skulltula. However, take a look at your map and you’ll see another chest. Use your Lens of Truth to reveal the other chest. Now go back out to the huge room and back to the platform where you fought the Stalfos.
Look off of the opposite side of this platform and you will see a platform held up by chains going up and down. Use your Hover Boots and run out onto it when it’s all the way down. Now look off to the west and you’ll see a bunch of silver rupees. Go there and collect the rupees to open the door. Also, you have to kill the Beamos in the middle to obtain the last rupee.
In this next room you will see two spike walls dropping one after the other. Start by running across to the other side of the room. Go into the cell to get a free bundle of arrows. From the start, look to the north wall with the Lens of Truth to see a block stuck in the wall. Pull it out and push it under the first spike wall. Then continue to push it until it stops both spike walls from falling. Then run around to the other side and pull it the rest of the way. Once you get the block to the end jump up onto it and then leap off onto the platform to the north. One of the chests you have to jump onto the spike wall and jump off it into the cage when it’s at its highest point. For the other chest you must step on the switch first, then go over to get it.
Now go back out to where you had to collect the silver rupees. There’s a ledge that extends out to the north. Follow it, and there will be a rising falling blade in your path. Use your Lens of Truth to reveal the platform on the other side. Then jump over to it. Then jump onto the moving platform on the chain and then open the locked door at the end.
Kill the two zombie enemies in this room to receive five rupees (whoop-di-friggen-doo). Then collect all the silver rupees in this room. Use your Lens of Truth to find the Longshot targets and to dodge the spikes. Then go through the newly opened door
Killing all four bats in this room re-opens the closed door. Throw a bomb into the skull in the middle of the room with the blue fire coming out of it to reveal a Gold Skulltula and the small key. Take this key back out to the room with the spikes to open the locked door and continue.
The next corridor will have two moving spikes and a fan blowing you backwards. Equip your Iron Boots to counter the fan, and then walk past the spikes. At one point you have to use your Hover Boots to walk across a gap, do so when the fans not blowing.
Use your Iron Boots to walk past the fans once more and then walk through the door at the end of the room. Kill the two zombies in this room. As the face in this room says, you now have to let the wind guide you. Walk out of this room, and across from the first fan is the next door you have to go through. When it is blowing full speed, equip your Hover Boots and lunge for the door.
In this room, kill the zombies to reveal the chest, which contains the key that opens the door on the back wall of this room. Lol, actually, the key his hidden under a pile of dirt in the corner. Bomb it and then open the chest. Use your Lens of Truth to see it.
You’re now in the room with the shortcut in it. Take the block in this room and push/pull it to the location shown (the path on the floor). Then climb the ladder and jump onto the ship. Play Zelda’s Lullaby where you see the triforce on the floor.
Kill both the Stalfos as fast as you can. Then, when the ship starts to sink jump onto the platform. There’s a door on this platform, find it and go through it. Go through all the doors in this room. For most of the rooms you’ll know what to do. The one with the wooden spikes in it, just use Din’s Fire to burn them up. In that room you obtain the Boss Key. Now go back out to where you jumped off the ship.
Across the way you’ll see a bird statue and a bunch of Bomb Plants. Shoot the bombs with an arrow to drop the statue, which becomes a bridge for you to get across. Proceed through the locked door. Use your Lens of Truth to reveal the platforms you can use to get to the boss room. Use your Hover Boots to navigate across. Then, drop through the hole in the newly opened boss room.
Bongo Bongo
Bongo Bongo is certainly hard. This is probably the third time I’ve done it and I can say it’s been a while since I’ve thrown my Wave Bird at the floor that hard. Batteries flew out and everything, which isn’t good, cause then you can’t pause. Anyways, after I figured out my old strategy it was pretty easy. First of all, equip your Hover Boots and leave them equipped. Bongo Bongo nails his drum and it knocks your concentration every time. What I mean by that is that if you’re aiming your bow, link will be thrown off and you’ll have to re aim. The secret I forgot is that this boss consists entirely of using your bow and your Lens of Truth. The Lens of Truth isn’t hard; just leave it turned on all the time. As for the bow, it’s a little more challenging. It requires some precise aiming. You have to hit his hand, and then his other hand, and then his eye will open up. You can only see his eye if you have the Lens of Truth on. Then after you shoot him in the eye with an arrow hit him with your sword. It takes a little practice. If you can, use your sword on the hands.
Congratulations. The Shadow Temple is done! The Water Temple makes this look like a walk in the park, eh? Your next mission is at the Gerudo Fortress.
