Ice Cavern

As the title states, this is not a temple, and you will not receive a Medallion for it or wake any sage. This is merely a little quest you must complete to get an item required to move to the next dungeon, much like how you needed to obtain the hookshot from Dampe to get to the Forest Temple.

Starting from the first room you enter, head forward into the first big room once you’re out of the hallway.

Start by killing all of the ice monsters in this room. There are about four of them, and they can turn invisible. Once you have killed them all the door will unlock.

This next room will have a spinning blade in the middle that you cannot touch. Navi gives you the ability to Z (or L) target the center to make moving around it easier. All you have to do in this room is collect all the silver rupees to proceed.

Go through the newly opened door up on the ledge and proceed through the hallway past the other Freezzard in there.

You’ll find yourself in a room with a bunch of platforms, and, starting with the one closest to Link, begin to make your way up them. On one of them you will notice a blue flame. You can use this to melt away all the red barriers in the cavern. Just gather the flame in your bottle or bottles and poor the flames on the barriers.

Start by melting the barrier over the chest on the last platform of this room to receive the Dungeon Map. The other jar that has a barrier over it only has rupees in it. A lot of rupees by the way. The only method of leaving this room is the same way you entered, so head back to the room with the spinning blade in the middle.

There are two doors you can use fire on in this room. The one to the East has two important items in it. The Compass and a heart piece.

Ice Cavern: Heart Piece

Afterwards head back out to the room with the spinning blade in the middle and unfreeze the other door in this room. The one to the west.

This is probably the hardest room in the cavern. Firstly, I recommend killing all of the bats in this room, all three that is. Next, like the last room you, have to collect all of the silver rupees. This time use the sliding block to reach them.

Find and move the block and pushing it forward towards the rupee, towards the east. Then push it to the north and unfreeze the rupee there. Push the sliding block off the side of the floor and you’ll get a new one. This time push it south and grab the rupee there. Then push it west and grab the rupee there. The last one you can grab off the lowest stump without the block. From where the block is, push it north, then east, then south, and you’ll be able to climb it to the newly opened door.

You’ll need blue fire in this next room, and if you’re like me, you’re out. So head back and grab some. You’ll now have to maneuver the block back in front of the newly opened door. To do this push it south, west, north, east, and then south again. Now go burn down that passage.

Go through the door and fight the White Wolfo to complete the Ice Cavern.

Your reward is the Iron Boots. Sheik will now teach you the Serenade of Water. Time to head to Lake Hylia.
