Dodongo's Cavern

Start by heading off to the left side of the dungeon. You can use either the platforms in the middle of this main room or by walking along the bottom of the side ledges to the back of the room where there are ladders to get up.

Up on the west side ledge there will be a Bomb Flower, an enemy, and a wall you can use the Bomb Flower on. So pick up the bomb and blow up the wall. Once you get past the wall you will find a chest, which contains the Dungeon Map.

Now head over to the east side of the room. You can use either the platforms or the ladder. Blow up the enemy, and the wall that can be exploded too. There are two of them; one merely contains an eye statue though.

Go into the next room. It’s a hallway that has a few Baby Dodongo’s in it. At the end of this room you will find two statues and a switch. Just move one of the statues over onto the switch and the door will open. Walk through this hallway and into the next room.

In here you will be fighting two Lizalfos. The easiest tactic is to equip your Hylian shield, and every time they jump over you, instantly shield and then hit them with your sword. It can be done with your Kokiri shield, but its much easier with the Hylian. They are open every time after they attack you. After your done head through the door that opens.

You’ll need sticks in this next room. If you don’t have any, this hallway that you enter, look for a wall that you can blow up, and grab a Bomb Flower from up ahead and blow the wall up. Then inside you will find a Deku Scrub who will sell you Deku Sticks after you defeat him. There are plenty of Dodongos in this room here. You can defeat each of them by hitting their backside when they blow fire at you. Three hits to kill one. Now take a stick, light in on fire from the only lit torch in the room and light all the other torches in this room to open the door. Walk through the newly opened door and step on the switch outside.

Now the door on the other side of this main chamber is unlocked, so head over there and enter it.

At the bottom of this room, before you dink around with the bombs, bomb the door on the south wall. That room will contain a statue which, when destroyed, will yield the Compass. All you must do to destroy it is throw a bomb flower at it. Exit the room.

Outside you will see tons of Bomb Flowers surrounding a gigantic block structure. Use the Bomb Flower that’s not near the structure in the middle of the room to blow all the other Bomb Flowers up. Just stick it right in between the two closest to you, where there is a gap between them. Head up the stairs and into the door at the top.

All you have to do in this next room is climb up the ladder in the middle and step on the switch. It’s usually a good idea to slaughter the bats in this room first. You can do this easily by Z or L targeting and using your slingshot, Link has near perfect aim if the bats' are barely moving.

Now you’re back in the main room. Just walk across the bridge and kill the bats as you go. The room at the end of the corridor is a little tricky. On the east side of the room you will find a block halfway in a wall. Pull it out, and use it to climb onto the platform near by, which will have a chest and a Bomb Flower on it. You have to throw the Bomb Flower at the wall (that can be blown up). It’s right on the same wall you just pulled the block from. Time your bomb just right so it blows up right when it hits the wall, as you may find getting it to sit on the ledge a little difficult. You may find it quite hard. My friends and I sometimes get lucky here, but the majority of the times this area makes us swear really loudly.

The next room the platform your supposed to jump on will be on fire. Just nail the eye on the other side of the room with your slingshot and it will go out. Be quick, it lights back up.

This next room is just like the last one where you had to fight the Lizalfos. One problem this time though, if you fall, your headed right back to that exact last stage where you fought those Lizalfos, so don’t fall!

In this next room, you have to hit the eye at the end of the room, jump onto the next platform, turn to your left and peg that eye and then jump onto the next platform and exit the room.

Now you’re back in the room where you had to throw the bomb. Don’t fall! Jump over onto the other ledge and to your right will be a chest. Inside you will find the Bomb Bag. Now you can use Bombs whenever you want. Don’t bother jumping down to where you see a bomb door. The crap in there is useless.

Your back in the main room once more. There will be two holes in the bridge this time. You have to drop a bomb down each. The bombs must land in the Dodongo’s eyes, and then the eyes will light up. Now drop down and enter the Dodongo’s mouth.

The next room you enter will have a switch in the middle, that’s in a little hole. If you step on it, and then try to run for the door that opens, it will shut. You need to grab a block and stick in on the button, which is actually harder than it would seem. Head down the east entrance.

After taking a left turn, you’ll enter a room. Continue along the path and you’ll come across two blocks. Move the one on the ground (the lower one) closer to the one on the ledge. Then jump on that block, and push the other one over the ledge onto the other side. Then take the block you pushed onto the other side and drag it over to the west wall, where you can climb on it and push the block in that wall all the way through, which will let you continue down the path. As you continue down this corridor you will run into a block, and you will be able to push it into the room with the switch. Good idea to take care of the bats as soon as you can, but don’t fall off the ledge without the block or you’ll have to run around and get it all over again.

This next room is the entrance to the boss’s chamber. At the back of the room you’ll find extra bombs incase you need them. Then bomb the middle of the floor, and jump down the hole.

King Dodongo
King Dodongo is actually quite easy once you know what to do. All you have to do is throw a bomb in his mouth when he starts to breath in. So as soon as you can see his big, red mouth, throw a bomb in. He’ll blow up, and then you have to hit him with your sword. You can only hit him once, and then you have to bomb him again. Repeat to defeat. If you run out of bombs use the Bomb Flowers in the corners.

Congratulations, you’ve obtained the Goron’s Ruby.

Next, your headed towards the Zora's River.
